Fantastic Fishing in Ludington
Ludington is known for their great fishing, and Nova Motel is one of the most fish-friendly motels around! We love to fish ourselves, and we welcome anglers during the spring, summer and fall.
FISHING AMENITIES
The Nova Motel offers two driveways (one off Old US-31, the other one off 1st Street) with big rig pull through parking, so there's always plenty of space to bring your boat and trailer. We also have a fish cleaning station and our own fish freezer to preserve your precious catch. If you have any questions about fishing or where to go, just ask--we have the answers! A great time to make a fishing trip to Ludington is during one of Michigan's Free Fishing Weekends. They're held twice a year--the summer date for 2012 is June 9 & 10. No fishing licenses are required, but all rules apply.
PERE MARQUETTE RIVER
The Pere Marquette River is a designated National Wild and Scenic River and flows westerly 66 miles through four counties. Anglers come from all over the country to fish this well known river for trout and steelhead. The advantage to staying at The Nova Motel is its location--less than a mile from the Twin Bridges on the Pere Marquette River, a very popular fishing spot. Live bait can be purchased just down from the bridges at Pere Marquette Expeditions, a full service store that also rents kayaks and canoes. During the summer and fall, the fairly calm PM River is busy with paddlers of all ages, with numerous canoe liveries and campsites along the way. Right next door to Pere Marquette Expeditions is Suttons Landing, a nice park with handicap accessibility to the PM River.
PERE MARQUETTE LAKE & LAKE MICHIGAN
Just a few miles from The Nova Motel is Pere Marquette Lake. You can stop at Copeyon Park off south Washington Avenue to access the lake, which opens into Lake Michigan. In close proximity to Copeyon Park you'll find Ludington's charter fishing captains, a friendly bunch of guys eager to take you out on the "big lake." They know the fishing hot spots and have the latest equipment to help make your excursion a fun and successful one.
